Politically I look up to Ron Paul. He’s the reason why I became a Libertarian and his example of a good husband, father and statesman is something I can aspire to.

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

Liberty Defined.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Personal Fortitude, Understanding, and Defication

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

I don’t view politics as a career. I want to use my position to improve freedom and protect individual liberties of my constituents.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

Serve to protect the rights of the people as laid out by the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of Ohio.

What legacy would you like to leave?

I would like to be remembered as a Representative that stood up to the gross overreach of the current Legislature.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

I worked for Papa John’s as an Instore employee and Shift Manager from the time I was 16 to the time I was 21.

What is your favorite holiday? Why?

My favorite holiday is Christmas. The meaning of this wonderful Holiday and the traditions associated with it are very important to me.

What is your favorite book? Why?

The Return of the King. Tolkien’s use of imagery, action, and plot inspired me to broaden my horizons and read many more books, fiction and nonfiction alike.

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

My wife and I lost a daughter in 2013 at 7 weeks old. That moment has been a struggle for me since.

How would you support the diverse needs of your district’s students, faculty, staff, and community?

Yes, working to pass or repeal legislation requires cooperation with members from all parties.

Do you believe that it’s beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics?

Not at all! I believe the biggest requirement is an understanding of the Constitution and Individual Liberties.

What do you perceive to be your state’s greatest challenges over the next decade?

The restoration of Liberty for the expansion of the free market to bring back jobs to Ohio.

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and the state legislature?

I believe the Governors Office and Legislature need to have a close working relationship while maintaining the separation of powers.

Do you believe it’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators? Please explain your answer.

Yes, working to pass or repeal legislation requires cooperation with members from all parties.

What process do you favor for redistricting?

Non-Partisan Committee.

If you are not a current legislator, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?

Agriculture and Rural Development, Government Accountability and Oversight

Is there a particular legislator, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?

Ron Paul
