Patrick J. Hanna was a federal magistrate judge on the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana. He was first appointed to his position in 2009, and retired in 2022.[1][2]

Education

Hanna earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Southwest Louisiana and his law degree from Louisiana State University. Hanna also attended Vermont Law School.[1]

Military service

Hanna served in the U.S. Coast Guard.[1]

Professional career

According to a conference biography of Hanna, "after serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, Hanna obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. He obtained his law degree from Louisiana State University in 1987 and, upon being admitted to the bar, practiced mostly maritime law in Lafayette. In 1992, he attended the Vermont Law School in order to practice environmental law. In 1994, he was a founding partner in the firm of Rabalais, Hanna & Hays where he remained until he was appointed to the bench."[1]

Judicial career

Hanna was appointed as a federal magistrate judge on the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana in 2009.[1] He retired in 2022.[2]
