Hurley provided the following statement on his campaign website:
| “ | Excellent public schools are the foundation of our community and there is no more important responsibility we have than to preserve and improve them. Our children, community and future depend on it. I am committed to ensuring the District continues to have great and safe schools.
The District’s recent accomplishments and international ranking makes the next several years the right time to build upon those accomplishments to prepare our children for an ever changing world. The District promotes our way of life and needs to remain academically strong for our kids. The school district is the backbone for economic development in our community. I want the best education for our children. I want our children to feel school is a safe and healthy environment in which to learn. I want our children to appreciate that education can create opportunities. I want our children to have access to relevant information, so they can make informed choices in order to accomplish their career and educational dreams. As a member of the Blue Valley School Board I will work to ensure that 1) funding for our schools remains stable, 2) we attract and retain the best teachers, 3) we continue to develop the preschool program and summer school electives, and 4) we promote Blue Valley as the number one school district in the State and metropolitan area.[4] |
