Patrick Jefferson (Democratic Party) was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, representing District 11. He assumed office on January 9, 2012. He left office on January 8, 2024.

Jefferson (Democratic Party) won re-election to the Louisiana House of Representatives to represent District 11 outright in the primary on October 12, 2019, after the general election was canceled.

Jefferson earned his B.A. in English from Dillard University in 1990 and his J.D. from Ohio State University in 1994. His professional experience includes owning his own law office and working as Assistant District Defender for the 2nd Judicial, Village Attorney for Simsboro, President of the Bienville Parish Police Jury, and General Counsel for NABCO.[1]

Elections for the Louisiana House of Representatives took place in 2015. A primary election was held on October 24, 2015, with a general election held in districts where necessary on November 21, 2015. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was September 10, 2015, at 4:30 p.m. CDT.[2]
Louisiana elections use the Louisiana majority-vote system. All candidates compete in the same primary, and a candidate can win the election outright by receiving more than 50% of the vote. If no candidate does, the top two vote recipients from the primary advance to the general election, regardless of their partisan affiliation.

On October 22, 2011, Jefferson won election to District 61 of the Louisiana House of Representatives. He defeated incumbent Rory Bedford (D) in the primary election on October 22, 2011. Because Louisiana uses a blanket primary system, a candidate can be declared the overall winner of the seat by garnering 50 percent +1 of the vote in the primary.[5]
