Patrick M. Flatley is a former judge for the Northern District of West Virginia. Judge Flatley was appointed to the court on March 12, 2006, and his term expired on March 11, 2020.[1]

Education

Judge Flatley received an undergraduate degree from Bethany College and his J.D. from West Virginia University.[2]

Career

Flatley's career included private law practice in Wheeling, WV. He was also an officer in the United States Marine Corps where he was a judge advocate at Campe Lejeune, NC. Later, Flatley was an assistant United States attorney, where he was chief of the civil division. He also served as interim U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia from April 2001 through October 2001. At the time of his appointment, he worked for the United States Department of Justice as an assistant United States attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia.

During his career, Flatley worked on the following committees:

  • Civil Chiefs Working Group, Chairperson, 1996 to 1999;
  • Attorney General's Advisory Committee of United States Attorneys, 2000 to 2001.[3]
