Biography
Patrick Gallivan lives in Elma, New York. Gallivan earned a B.S. in physical education from Canisius College and an M.A. in criminal justice from the State University of New York at Albany. His career experience includes working as a trooper, sergeant, lieutenant, and captain of the New York State Police, as the sheriff of Erie County, and as a partner of GDY Professional Investigations. Gallivan was also a member of the State Board of Parole.[1]

Gallivan ran in the 2010 election for New York State Senate District 59. He defeated David DiPietro and James Daomagalski in the September 14 Republican primary. Because Daomagalski and DiPietro ran unopposed in their minor party primaries, they still advanced to the general election despite losing the Republican primary. Gallivan defeated Cynthia Appleton (D), James Daomagalski (Independence), and David DiPietro (Tea Party) in the general election on November 2.[12][13]
