Patrick McPharlin
Patrick McPharlin is the former Michigan Commissioner of Insurance. Governor of Michigan Rick Snyder (R) appointed McPharlin on May 15, 2015 to succeed the outgoing Commissioner, Ann Flood who resigned in order to return to the private sector.[1] He left office in January 2019.
Biography
Patrick McPharlin began his career in the financial sector in 1973 at the Michigan State University Federal Credit Union. In 2001, he was appointed CEO of the Credit Union and continued in that position until his resignation in March, 2015. According to his official biography, McPharlin has received both state and national awards for his leadership as CEO. He also received a Distinguished Alumni award from his alma mater, Michigan State University.
Patrick McPharlin holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences and a Master's degree in Management.[2]

Political career
Michigan Commissioner of Insurance (2015-2019)
McPharlin was appointed Michigan Commissioner of Insurance by Gov. Rick Snyder effective May 18, 2015 to replace former Commissioner Ann Flood. Upon his appointment of McPharlin, Snyder issued the following statement: "[McPharlin's] leadership in growing a company based on customer service and strong community relationships will bring great value to this role that connects directly with residents and employers. With Pat at the helm, we can continue to ensure strong consumer protection and information while helping position the insurance and financial services sectors for continued economic growth statewide."[3] He left office in January 2019.
