Patrick Schlitz is the chief judge of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. He joined the court in 2006 after being nominated by President George W. Bush (R). He has served as chief judge since July 1, 2022.[1]

Early life and education

A native of Minnesota, Schiltz graduated from the College of St. Scholastica with his bachelor's degree in 1981 and later graduated from Harvard Law School in 1985.[2]

On the recommendation of Senator Norm Coleman, Schiltz was nominated by George W. Bush on December 14, 2005 to a seat vacated by Richard Kyle as Kyle went on senior status. Schiltz was confirmed by the Senate on April 26, 2006 on a majority voice vote and received commission on April 28, 2006[2][3]
