Patty Lopez (Democratic Party) was a member of the California State Assembly, representing District 39.

Lopez (Democratic Party) ran for election to the California State Assembly to represent District 39. She lost in the primary on June 5, 2018.

Lopez also ran in a special election to the California State Assembly to represent District 39. She lost in the special primary on April 3, 2018.

Lopez is a former Democratic member of the California State Assembly. She represented District 39 from 2014 to 2016.

Lopez was a candidate for District 6 representative on the Los Angeles Unified School District school board in California. Lopez was defeated in the by-district nonpartisan primary election on March 7, 2017.

Lopez was born in Michoacán, Mexico. She moved to the United States when she was 10 years old. Before she was elected to the California State Assembly in 2014, she worked on an assembly line in Valencia. She and her husband have two adult daughters. She also raised two of her nieces.[1]

Three seats on the Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education were up for primary election on March 7, 2017. A general election was held on May 16, 2017, for the District 4 and 6 seats. In her bid for re-election to the District 2 seat, incumbent Mónica García defeated challengers Lisa Alva and Carl Petersen and won another term outright by receiving a majority of votes in the primary. In District 4, board President Steve Zimmer advanced to the general election with challenger Nick Melvoin after they defeated Gregory Martayan and Allison Holdorff Polhill. Melvoin defeated Zimmer in the general election. Six candidates—Kelly Fitzpatrick-Gonez, Patty Lopez, Imelda Padilla, Araz Parseghian, Gwendolyn Posey, and Jose Sandoval—filed to run for the open District 6 seat in the primary. Fitzpatrick-Gonez and Padilla advanced to the general election, where Fitzpatrick-Gonez won the seat. District 6 incumbent Monica Ratliff opted not to run for re-election to the board and instead ran for a Los Angeles City Council seat.[2][3][4][5]

Elections for the California State Assembly took place in 2016. The primary election was held on June 7, 2016, and the general election was held on November 8, 2016. The candidate filing deadline was February 25, 2016, for candidates filing with signatures. The deadline for candidates using a filing fee to qualify was March 11, 2016.[8]

Raul Bocanegra defeated incumbent Patty Lopez in the California State Assembly District 39 general election.[9][10]

The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 7, 2014. Incumbent Raul Bocanegra (D) and Patty Lopez (D) defeated Kevin J. Suscavage (D) and write-in candidate Michael B. Boyd (R) in the blanket primary. Lopez defeated Bocanegra in the general election.[13][14][15][16]
