One of the five seats on the Flagler County Public Schools Board of Education was up for by-district general election on November 8, 2016. Four newcomers vied for the District 5 seat in the by-district primary election on August 30, 2016: Paul Anderson, Maria Barbosa, Sharon Demers, and Myra Valentine. Neither Barbosa nor Valentine received more than 50 percent of the votes, so both advanced to the general election. Barbosa won the seat in the general. District 3 incumbent Colleen Conklin won re-election in the primary election by defeating challenger Jason Sands.[1][2]
