Campaign themes

2014

Bowman's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]

Government Spending

  • Excerpt: "Cut it! Period. End of Story. Good government is more efficient and less expensive than bad government. Living within our means is a virtue. Government should not spend more than it takes in and it must be a good return on investment for the taxpayer."

Values

  • Excerpt: "I will stand for the traditional values that have made this country great. While some argue that faith and family are outdated, I disagree. These values are timeless. I support the right to life, expression of the Second Amendment, prayer in school, and public expression of faith. Integrity and honor should be the foundation of any leader—these aren’t just buzzwords to me."

Taxes and the Economy

  • Excerpt: "We can’t tax ourselves to prosperity. Reigning in reckless spending, lowering taxes, and targeting regulations that harm private sector job growth will be a major priority. Bailouts and the devastating practice of government picking winners and losers must be stopped so that the economic market place can be truly free."

Freedoms

  • Excerpt: "Many of our key protections under the Bill of Rights and the U.S. Constitution are gone. Our Founding Fathers did not envision the government to have intrusive power over the lives of private citizens. Our country was established to promote personal liberty and freedom from harmful government regulations."

Health Care

  • Excerpt: "The government should not be in the health care business. A free-market approach is the only way to provide the best service at the best price. ObamaCare and government takeover of healthcare is a terrible error."
