Campaign themes
2015
Fortin's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[8]
Open government
- Excerpt: "For government to work the for the best interest of its citizens it must operate in an open and fair environment. An additional part of open government is when information is requested, it should be provided in a timely manner."
Public safety
- Excerpt: "The largest portion of the city budget goes to law enforcement and fire protection. We have to realize that a police force does not generally prevent crime, they react to issues that we report. As a community, we have to address the issues that lead to crime, make them aware of potential issues and support them in their duties."
Sustainable budget
- Excerpt: "Boise must live within a budget based on available revenue from current property and sales taxes. The key to a sustainable budget is prioritizing our cities services. We must fully fund our key services before taking on other new initiatives. My priorities for city budget are Police, Fire, Streets, Utilities, and Parks. I will carefully scrutinize all revenue and tax proposals before the council until all avenues of priority, efficiency and creativity are exhausted."
