Paul Gardephe is a federal judge on senior status with the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He joined the court in 2008 after being nominated by President George W. Bush. Prior to his appointment to the federal bench, Gardephe was a consultant to the Office of the Inspector General at the U.S. Department of Justice between 1996 to 2000, and 2001 to 2003.[1] Gardephe assumed senior status on August 9, 2023.[2]

Education

Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Gardephe graduated from University of Pennsylvania with his bachelor's and Master's degrees in 1979. Gardephe received his J.D. degree from Columbia University Law School in 1982.[1]

Gardephe was nominated to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York by George W. Bush on April 29, 2008, to a seat vacated by Charles Brieant. Gardephe was confirmed by the Senate on July 17, 2008, and received commission on August 8, 2008.[3]
