The city of Denver, Colorado, held elections for mayor and city council on May 5, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was March 11, 2015. All 13 city council seats were up for election. In District 6, Paul Kashmann defeated Liz Adams.[1] Incumbent Charlie Brown did not run for re-election due to term limits.[2]

Commitment to public service, openness to divergent ideas, willingness to work hard for long hours, intelligence, persistence, the ability to compromise, the ability to lead.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

I like people, and enjoy the role of helping them to access their government. I have a long-standing commitment to public service, am open to considering divergent ideas, am willing and able to work hard for long hours, have the intellectual ability to consider complex issues, am persistent and have the ability to compromise and the ability to lead.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

Keeping your constituency safe and providing that connection between the citizen and her government. As a legislator, crafting the policies that create a livable community with opportunity for all residents.

What legacy would you like to leave?

I hope to restore people's faith in government. I hope more people turn out to vote in my next election than turned out last time.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

The election of Dwight Eisenhower as president in 1952. I was barely 5 years old.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

I was a soda jerk at Seymour's Luncheonette in Livingston, NJ for about 3 years.

What happened on your most awkward date?

I went to dinner with a lovely young woman, we sat and talked for hours. I walked her to her car at the end of the evening, then got in my own car to head out and looking in the mirror I saw I had a swath of blue cheese dressing on my beard that must have been there from the beginning of our meal a few hours earlier. Whoops!

What is your favorite holiday? Why?

Thanksgiving. Food and friends and no gifts required.

What is your favorite book? Why?

Between My World and Me.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?

Spiderman.

What is your favorite thing in your home or apartment? Why?

My guitar.

What was the last song that got stuck in your head?

Like A Rolling Stone.

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

Being a single father with full time custody of two young children when I was 25 years old.

Are there any little-known powers or responsibilities held by this office that you believe more people should be aware of?

The majority of what we pay attention to are land-use policies.

What kind of skills or expertise do you believe would be the most helpful for the holders of this office to possess?

Commitment to public service, openness to divergent ideas, willingness to work hard for long hours, intelligence, persistence, the ability to compromise, the ability to lead.

What qualities does this office possess that makes it a unique and important part of the local government?

City Council is the legislative arm of government setting policy for the city. And Council acts as a check on the executive branch.

Do you believe that it’s beneficial for holders of this office to have previous experience in government or politics?

Absolutely. It is a complex job that takes years to really learn.
