Ballotpedia survey responses

Campaign website

Krautmann's campaign website stated the following:

Campaign Issue #1

ON Military Spending

In 2023 the military budget is $850 billion. This number does not include the recent $55 billion or so (half of which is going to the US Arms Manufacturers—the Merchants of Death) given to Ukraine to continue its war against Russia. In addition, take a guess at who will rebuild Ukraine after hostilities cease. If you guessed YOU, you are correct. It is just a matter of time.

  1. I propose that the US stop war and start peace.
  2. I propose that the over 800 military bases in over 70 countries be closed.
  3. I propose that the National Defense Authorization Act (the Pentagon Budget) be cut 50%. The US has no enemy that it needs aircraft carriers deployed all over the world. The US has no enemy that it needs nuclear-armed submarines deployed all over the world. The US has no enemy that it needs a nuclear arsenal that is capable of destroying half the world’s population in a heartbeat. The US does not need to “modernize” its nuclear arsenal.
  4. I propose that the US become a welfare of the people state, not a welfare of the military/national security state.

Campaign Issue #2:

ON Universal Health Care

  1. I support Medicare for All.
  2. Medicare for ALL includes Dental care. There is no reason why dental care and health care should be separated in any program that betters the life of each citizen.
  3. It is time to say goodbye to Health Insurance Corporations and so long to Pharmaceutical Corporations that control our lives and access to Medical and Dental Care.
  4. The big question: How do we pay for it?
Cut Pentagon spending in half.
Increase tax on the wealthy.

Campaign Issue #3

ON Social Security Reform

  1. I propose that the limit on Social Security Wage Base be eliminated — no more upper limit for wealthy citizens. My opponent does not talk about this. EXAMPLE: In 2022, the limit is $147,000 — the maximum social security tax is $9114 (147,000 times .062). The citizen who earns $1,000,000 presently pays $9,114. When the limit is eliminated he will pay $62,000.
  2. I propose that a worker who earns less than $9,999 pay no Social Security tax. A high-wage earner should be proud to pay more to society. He is the individual who used the American system to attain his great wealth. He is the best example of American Exceptionalism.

Campaign Issue #4

Democrat political leaders do not represent me.

Secretary of State Madeleine Albright under Democratic President Clinton, when questioned on 60 Minutes (May 12, 1996), by Lesley Stahl about U.S. sanctions against Iraq:

“We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that’s more than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?”

Albright responded,

“I think this is a very hard choice, but the price — we think the price is worth it.”

Democratic Senators Biden, Clinton, Kerry, Lieberman, Reid, and Schumer, among others, voted FOR the invasion of Iraq in 2002. They backpedaled when the Occupation of Iraq went badly. They then were OKAY with the war and occupation when Nobel Peace Prize winner, Democratic Senator Obama, became Democratic President Obama.

Democratic President Obama, subsequently, is the longest-tenured United States WAR President, 8 years.

In November, 2010, Democratic President Obama announced a $1 trillion United States nuclear weapons MODERNIZATION program over the next 30 years.

In the 2016 NH Presidential Primary, Senator Bernie Sanders clearly won the most votes. But due to Democratic Party shenanigans (Super Delegates) he did not receive the proportional number of Delegates to the party convention, In other words, the primary election was clearly rigged in favor of Hillary Clinton.

Campaign Issue #5

ON how government works for you

  • Federal Election Days and Veterans Day should be combined into one Full-stop National Holiday.
  • Senators must be limited to serving for 12 years
  • Members of the House of Representatives must be limited to serving 12 years.
  • Retired military officers should be banned from working for or serving on the Boards of military contractors.
  • Former Senators and Congress people should be banned from lobbying activities on Capitol Hill and from serving on the Boards of military contractors.
  • The US needs to have an annual questionnaire on Form 1040. “How do you wish your tax dollars spent?” Choices might include: Defense Spending, Health Benefits for ALL, Public Policy to eliminate Homelessness and Hunger, etc. Congresspeople might pay attention.
  • An expert panel of mental health professionals and social scientists (no politicians allowed) should be brought together to determine why the US leads the world in killing one another and what we must do to stop this killing.
  • Congressional Seniority System must be abolished—the System does not serve the interest and welfare of 99.9% of the citizens of the USA.[2]

Expand all | Collapse all

I have lived in Keene with my wife, Suzy, for 41 years. We have 3 adult children, and 9 grandchildren. I am an Iraq War veteran and a retired Colonel, United States Army, with 26 years of active and reserve duty. I am a retired Pediatric Dentist.

I am running for the US Senate seat held by Senator Shaheen. Senator Shaheen and the Democratic Party that she has controlled for over 20 years has not represented me.

Senator Shaheen supports Permanent War; she never fails to vote for the National Defense Appropriation Act. The 2021 Pentagon Budget that Senator Shaheen supports is $740,000,000,000 (740 billion dollars).

Senator Shaheen's vote in support of such an expenditure is shameful, disgusting, and intolerable. The country needs Medicare for All, Social Security Reform, and Campaign Public Financing, Tax Reform, prescription drug access for all, and support for Education.

I offer myself as the Peace Candidate. I offer myself as the candidate who will stand with Progressives on Capitol Hill to support the welfare of all citizens, not just the wealthy.

It is time for New Hampshire voters to dismiss Senator Shaheen, and allow her to come home and get a job.
  • I am the Peace Candidate, the anti-war candidate.
  • I support Medicare for All. I support the right that all citizens have access to prescription drugs.
  • The US needs to lay bare the influence of Money in Politics.
After 19 years of continuous war, with no sign of victory or an end-point, the United States must change course. The US must close its over 800 bases in 70+ countries.

The US needs to bar retired Military officers from participating in Military-Industrial-Congressional Corporations. The swinging door of Pentagon/Board of Director of Boeing must stop.
The US needs to bar retired members of Congress from participation in influence-peddling lobby system on Capitol Hill. Retired Members of Congress should go home and get jobs.
The US needs to honor Veterans with a full-stop November holiday called Veterans/Election Day.
The US needs to eliminate the Executive Order. Congress must take back its constitutional power to legislate.
The US needs to tax the super wealthy citizens more, not less. The wealthy citizen should be proud to pay more for the welfare of his fellow citizens. After all, it is the American Capitalistic System and tax code that helped to make him wealthy.
The US needs to eliminate Social Security wage cap. In 2020 the Social Security wage cap is $137,700 which equals a tax $8537. An individual who earns $1.000,000 pays $8537. Why should that individual not pay $62,000 (6.2% of $1,000,000)? Let's raise money to sustain Social Security instead of arguing over when Social Security bankruptcy.

The US needs to impose a 10% War Tax. If the citizenry continues to allow Congress and any President to wage Permanent War, then we must begin paying.
One of the most important characteristics for an elected official is the ability to speak out for the people. Specifically, it is important be able to challenge the divisive rhetoric that we have endured since Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh poisoned the brains of half the citizenry.
I helped the Fuller Brush man deliver orders to his customers when I was in 6th grade. I helped him for about 3 months.
War Is a Racket By General Smedley Butler

Why? The answer is the title.
I struggle daily to have the patience to refrain from screaming and hollering about the state of Permanent War in the US, and the fact that most citizens do not care that Permanent War exists.

Our four New Hampshire Democratic Party congressional representatives support Permanent War. I am no longer a patient man.
To stop Permanent War.

To take the government back from the oligarchy.

To legislate Medicare for All. It is way past time.
I believe that those elected to the United States Congress should be citizens from all aspects and experiences of life.

Many of us learned how government is supposed to work in Civics classes. I see today that it does not work the way that we were taught.

There is no previous experience required to serve in the Senate to realize that deep changes must be made in the way we are governed..
