I am a small businessman and have spent most of my career in healthcare. I started out as an EMT and went into medical device engineering, working as an engineer and eventually starting my independent consultancy. I also co-own and operate a liqueur company. I'm entering politics because I am passionate about helping my fellow citizens and I see this as an opportunity to serve and make a difference.
  • I am an experienced business owner that wants to make a difference in the community
  • I have worked in healthcare most of my career and want to keep costs under control
  • I think politicians need to be held accountable to the voters
I am very passionate about healthcare costs, having worked as an EMT I have helped too many people that were desperately worried about the cost of the ride to the hospital they needed. We need to get healthcare costs under control in Wisconsin. I am also very concerned about gerrymandering in Wisconsin, it is important that elected officials can be held accountable by their voters. With the current districts that are heavily favored to one party or another, politicians are more worried about pleasing their party rather than helping constituents. Finally, I want to make sure that Wisconsin businesses are competitive and can afford to hire workers at fair wages. Wisconsin has spent too much money trying to get out of state businesses to relocate, taxpayer money should stay with local businesses that have a track record of hiring Wisconsinites.
I look up to my parents, we didn't have much growing up, but we didn't want for anything. We always were well-fed and had a roof over our head, which is what really matters. They taught me hard work and how to prioritize what is really important in life. We lost my father when I was young, but my mother made sure that I went on to have a good education.
A desire to serve. Being an elected official is an opportunity to give back to the area, the country, and the citizens that have made this democracy possible.
I was a server at a restaurant/catering company for 3 years. It was how I supported myself in college. I learned attention to detail and how to hustle during a busy day.
I see diversity of experience as very valuable. I have experience in healthcare and business which will add an important perspective to the legislature. I think that many others also bring value to the table whether it is experience from other offices they have held, experience as an educator, experience as an advocate, or many other life experiences.
Wisconsin has become far too partisan and it has caused a lot of damage. Because of gerrymandering politicians are no longer held accountable to voters. We need to end gerrymandering and draw fair maps so that politicians can be held accountable to voters and not special interests.
I prefer an independent commission that draws the actual maps, many states have good models, Iowa, Arizona, Virginia, but I am willing to be flexible in the final method as long as it puts voters first and eliminates political influence. I also believe that the process needs to be passed as an amendment to the Wisconsin Constitution so that we have a permanently fair process and not one that shifts every 10 years depending on who is in office.
I spoke with a veteran that was exposed to agent orange during the Vietnam war. He has always voted and considers his right to vote sacred. Because we pushed to have our spring elections during the pandemic, and he didn't know how to register for absentee voting, he had to risk his life with poor lung conditions in order to exercise his right to vote. We need to make sure voting can be done safely in Wisconsin.
