Career
Severino earned his B.S.E.E. (Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering) degree in 1969 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute located in Troy, New York. Severino was previously the chairman of Massachusetts Technology Development Corp. (MTDC) from 1993 to 2008. He was a co-founder, director, and president of Interlan, Inc. from 1981 to 1985 and of Wellfleet Communications from 1986 to 1995. He also co-founded Bay Networks and served as its chairman from 1994 to 1996. Before he established his own companies, Severino was the vice president of engineering for Data Translation, Inc. and worked as a product development engineer at Digital Equipment Corp. and Prime Computer Inc.[3][4]
From 2002 to 2012, Severino was a trustee of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. He also served as an institute trustee for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from 1995 to 2014.[3][4]
