Paul Sterling was a candidate for Area 6 representative on the Rapid City Board of Education in South Dakota. The general election was held on June 7, 2016. Sterling was defeated in the race by fellow candidate Amy Policky.[1][2]

Two of the seven seats on the Rapid City Area School District school board were up for by district general election on June 7, 2016. Area 3 incumbent Dave Davis faced Ron Riherd and Thomas Udager. In Area 6, David Phelps, Paul Sterling, and Amy Policky challenged each other in the race.[1] Ultimately, Area 3 incumbent Davis lost his re-election bid to challenger Riherd while Policky took the seat in Area 6.[3]
