- Judges should know the law and keep it well. As a Board Certified Criminal Appellate lawyer, I have demonstrated a commitment to keeping up with the latest legal developments. I have also spent most of my legal career working within the Texas judiciary.
- Judges should show restraint. The role of a Judge is to administer justice according to law, not to impose his or her personal preferences. As Presiding Judge Schenck of the Court of Criminal Appeals has written, "Judges do not own courtrooms. They serve in them."
- Judges should show kindness and respect to everyone. Throughout my career, I have demonstrated a willingness to listen, understand, and work toward common ground. I am committed to bringing those qualities to the bench, and to running a court in which lawyers are excited to handle their business.
