Paul Sullivan (Michigan)

Paul J. Sullivan was a judge of the 17th Circuit Court in Kent County, Michigan. He was appointed to the court by former Governor John Engler in March 1995.[1] Sullivan was then elected to the court in November 1996 and re-elected in 2002, 2008, and 2014.[2][3][4][5] He previously served as chief judge of the court from 2003 until 2009 and retired on December 31, 2020.[6][7]

Education
Sullivan graduated from Georgetown University in 1969 with an undergraduate degree in government. He then worked as a staff assistant for U.S. Senator Norris Cotton of New Hampshire until 1972. Sullivan then received his J.D. degree from the Catholic University of America.[8]
Career
Sullivan began his legal career in 1972 as an assistant district attorney in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He then became a private practice lawyer, working in the Grand Rapids firm of Roach, Twohey, Maggini, and Brady. Sullivan then joined the firm of Twohey, Maggini, Muldoon, Mudie and Sullivan, where he served until his election to the 61st District Court in 1988. In March 1995, he was appointed to the 17th Circuit Court.[8][9]
