Before I started my career, I graduated college with a degree in Computer Science and obtained a commercial pilot’s license. After a year as a software engineer, I realized I felt more at home in the sky than at a desk, so I joined the United States Air Force through the Air Force Reserves where I flew C141 cargo planes all over the world. I’ve always tried to give my time to my community. I’ve been a Token Creek Conservancy board member for over 16 years, volunteer water tester for the Rock River Coalition, election worker, and volunteer at the McKenzie Center, Meals on Wheels, and at our schools. I enjoy gardening, traveling the world, scuba, cooking, skiing, and yoga.
I am running for Dane County Board because I have seen how local decisions can have real, effective impact on our everyday lives. I am focused on the county budget, protecting our natural resources and helping the county strategically grow.- The Dane County Budget is one of the biggest responsibilities of the Board. It is incredibly important that the Dane County Budget represents and supports the needs of District 20 residents while not overburdening taxpayers. We have to ensure the county budget provides the services residents require while balancing cost-saving measures, seeking additional resources from the state’s budget surplus, and making smart inflationary adjustments.
- I am passionate about our natural resources. Our water, wetlands, and farmlands are being threatened by more frequent severe weather events and the rapid growth in our area. Every decision we make should reflect a commitment to protecting the enviroment. As an active member on the Token Creek Conservancy Committee and Rock River Coalition water volunteer, I bring a wealth of knowledge and understanding of our local natural areas.
- I believe we all deserve a fair chance in this world. I believe our community should protect our children, protect our planet, help those of us less fortunate, have a strong educational system, fair wages, good medical care and we should let everyone live their best lives without discrimination.
Our government and our taxes should work to enhance our communities, help the most vulnerable, preserve and protect our natural resources, and help make Dane County a place of opportunities so that the next generation will want to stay and make Wisconsin their home.
