Paula H. Thomas is a judge on the South Carolina Court of Appeals. She was elected by the South Carolina State Legislature to this position on February 7, 2007, effective June 18, 2007.[1][2] The legislature re-elected her in February 2019.[3] Thomas was re-elected by the South Carolina Legislature in March 2025.[4]
Education
Thomas attended the University of South Carolina, where she received her B.I.S. degree in 1979, her M.Ed. degree in 1981, and her J.D. in 1986. Prior to becoming a judge, she was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1993 to 1996.[1]
Career
Thomas replaced Ralph King Anderson as a Judge-at-Large on the Circuit Court on May 22, 1996.[5] She was then elected to the 15th Circuit Court on June 16, 1998. She held this position until 2007, when she was elected to the Court of Appeals.[1]
