Paulina Miranda
Paulina Miranda (Democratic Party) ran for election to the California State Senate to represent District 14. She lost in the primary on June 7, 2022.
Miranda was a 2014 Democratic candidate for District 8 of the California State Senate. She ran unsuccessfully for District 16 of the California State Senate in a 2013 special election.[1]
Biography
Miranda earned a B.S. from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. She also graduated from the Emerge California program in 2012. Miranda's professional experience includes working as a manager and educator. She was also the owner of a residential care facility for the elderly from 2001 to 2007. She has served as PTA president for Castle Park High School and as a founding member of the Stonewalls Democratic Club, the San Joaquin Democratic Club, the Mong Democratic Club, the Chicano/Latino Caucus, and the Fresno Democratic Latino Club.[2]
Miranda became an ex-officio member of the FCDCC in 2014. She served as an elected member of the FCDCC's Supervisorial District One in 2008 and its Supervisorial District Five in 2003. She also served as controller for the California Democratic Council in 2006, as treasurer of the Fresno County Democratic Party in 2004 and 2006, and as a trustee of the Fresno County Democratic Party Office in 2004. Miranda and her husband have three children.[2]

Elections for the California State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election took place on June 3, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 7, 2014. Incumbent Tom Berryhill (R) and Paulina Miranda (D) were unopposed in the blanket primary. Berryhill defeated Miranda in the general election.[3][4][5]

2013
Miranda ran in a special election for California State Senate District 16. The seat was vacant following Michael J. Rubio's (D) resignation on February 22, 2013 to accept a job with Chevron. Miranda was defeated in the special election, which took place on May 21, 2013.[1][6][7][8][9]
