Kinkade provided the following statement for the Deschutes County voter's pamphlet:
“ | It has been my honor to serve on the Bend-La Pine School Board. I am proud that our school district is an educational leader in Oregon. We have many success stories, but there is still work to do.
Bend-La Pine Schools have been well-led by our retiring superintendent. I am enthusiastic about our incoming superintendent’s vision for education. I am personally invested in this vision and ready to help guide Bend-La Pine Schools in our journey to World Class. My years on the board and many hours spent in schools have solidified my belief that our most powerful assets are teachers. They change lives. I support meaningful, relevant professional development for our teaching teams. I believe the fastest way to improve education is to rely on the knowledge, skills and experience of successful teaching professionals. Schools budgets are always tight, and I take seriously the obligation to spend our resources wisely. Financial decisions must be made with student and taxpayer values in mind. I prioritize funding for the classroom as well as effective co- and extra-curricular activities. My goal is to help every Bend-La Pine student succeed. I am passionate about public education and want to find ways to engage each child in his or her education. We can inspire life-long learners and create thriving citizens. I would be pleased to serve another term representing the people of Bend, Sunriver and La Pine on our school board.[3] |
