I have lived in Sherwood for 37 years, raised my family here, volunteered in my community most of that time including serving 11 years on the Sherwood School Board.
  • I want to protect our towns from Portland's problems.
  • Politicians always want more of our dollars to solve other peoples problems. We need to hold the line on new taxes and new expenditures. Our state budget has grown by almost $40 billion since 2009. Another $3 billion in taxes last year.
  • I would like to make our state family friendly and business friendly. I have friends and neighbors who say they plan to move out of state because of Oregon's high taxes.
Honesty, integrity, being careful with taxpayer's dollars.
Balance the budget responsibly. Represent the will of the people. The current legislature has overturned the will of the people with the passage of the tax on Oregon's sales for small and medium sized businesses. Oregonian's voted no on Measure 97, Oregonians have always voted no on sales taxes and this is just a hidden sales tax. The legislature also overturned the will of the people with SB1013 and HB2015 and took away half of our "kicker".
We make a living by what we receive. We make a life by what we give.
After returning to class after lunch in my high school, my bookkeeping teacher was near tears, the principal came onto the intercom and announced President John F. Kennedy had been assassinated. It was not sure if Lyndon Johnson, the vice president and the governor of Texas had been shot as well.
It was a very sobering time. School was dismissed. We all very somberly went home.
I worked part time as a bookkeeper after school and on Saturdays. After high school, I worked full-time as a bookkeeper for a soft-drink bottling company for ten years. I balanced checking accounts, did payroll, processed accounts payable and accounts receivable, billing and profit and loss statements. I know it is very important to be accountable with money.
Raising a family. Trying to help each individual find their role in life.
Not as important as other experience. State legislators should care passionately about their constituents and communities. They should have a desire to represent their community and have life experience.
We have become one of the highest taxed states. We need to hold the line on unnecessary expenditures and especially on wasteful spending.
The governor should have respect for the will of the people. The legislature should represent the will of the people. The governor should be able to negotiate differences when necessary.
Yes. People need to respect each other and each others opinions and ideas in order to work together for the good of the people. As a former nonpartisan elected official I am used to working on solutions, not partisan politics.
The legislature should not redistrict. A bipartisan committee should redistrict our state.
No. I am not interested in climbing a political ladder, I just want fair representation for my constituents. I do not feel that is happening now.
Many of my fiends and neighbors say they feel they need to move out of Oregon because it is too expensive to live here. That makes me sad. I want to make Oregon more affordable.
Oregon's state budget has grown by $40 billion since 2009. Are we seeing benefits?
