Text of measure
Text of the question:
“ | Shall the annual tax rate for education purposes of School District Number 259, Kankakee and Iroquois Counties, Illinois, (commonly known as Pembroke Community Consolidated School District No. 259), for tax years 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 only, be increased from 1.11% to 3.50% upon the value of the taxable property in the district as equalized or assessed by the Department of Revenue?
YES NO (a) 3.50% is the maximum rate at which such tax may be levied if the above proposition is approved. (b) $3,484,834 is the amount of the 2012/2013 annual budget of School District Number 259. $3,842,264 would be the total amount of that annual budget if increased by the amount of the additional tax for education purposes which may be levied if the proposition is approved. The 2012/2013 annual budget total dollar amount would be increased by 10.26 percent if such total dollar amount were increased by the additional tax for education purposes which may be levied if the proposition is approved. (c) The annual rate at which the tax for education purposes is currently levied is 1.11%. The percentage of increase between the 3.50% maximum rate at which said tax may be levied if the proposition is approved and the annual rate at which such tax currently is levied is 215.315 percent. (d) It is estimated that the approximate amount of taxes extendible under the maximum rate of 1.11% for education purposes now in force for School District Number 259, computed upon the last known full, fair cash value is $166,003 and that the approximate amount of taxes extendible for said School District Number 259 under the proposed increased rate of 3.50% for education purposes, computed upon the last known full, fair cash value, is $523,433.[1][2] |
