Perkkio appointed newest judge of Minnesota's 1st District Court

Minnesota: Governor Mark Dayton appointed Arlene M. Asencio Perkkio to the Minnesota First Judicial District on June 10, 2011. Perkkio, currently a private practice lawyer and resident of Mendota Heights, will replace retired Judge Robert F. Carolan on the court. Her law practice has focused on criminal defense work, specifically regarding immigration consequences, and she has appeared in many cases throughout Minnesota. The Governor stated, "She is a supremely well-qualified attorney, who brings a wealth of courtroom experience to the First Judicial District Court. She has demonstrated a commitment to community service, and she is able to relate to individuals coming from diverse backgrounds, which will serve her well as judge."[1]
