Perla Tabares Hantman
Perla Tabares Hantman was a member of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools school board in Florida, representing District 4. Tabares Hantman assumed office in 1996. Tabares Hantman left office on November 22, 2022.
Tabares Hantman ran for re-election to the Miami-Dade County Public Schools school board to represent District 4 in Florida. Tabares Hantman did not appear on the ballot for the primary on August 23, 2022.
Biography
Hantman was born in Havana, Cuba and moved with her family to the United States during her college years. She earned an undergraduate degree from Barry University. Hantman worked for the federal Cuban Refugee Program and as a U.S. Foreign Service employee working in Mexico City. She served on the Florida Board of Medicine from 1987 to 1990 and the Florida Board of Regents from 1990 to 1996.[1]

The August 26, 2014 general election in Miami-Dade County featured four seats up for election. District 4 incumbent Perla Tabares Hantman defeated challenger Duysevi "Sevi" Miyar in the general election. Marta Perez won re-election to the District 8 seat against newcomer Lawrence "Larry" Orihuela. Incumbents Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall and Raquel A. Regalado won re-election without opposition in Districts 2 and 6, respectively.
