Peter B. Skelos was a judge on the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Second Department. He joined this division in May of 2004.[1] He was re-elected in 2012 to a fourteen-year term, but he retired on August 1, 2015.[2]

Education

Judge Skelos received his B.A. from Emory University in 1977 and a J.D. from Fordham University in 1980.[1]

Career

Judge Skelos practiced law with Thomas F. Liotti in Carle Place, Long Island, before becoming a judge in 1995.[3] He judged on the New York State District Court of Nassau County through 1998. In 1999, he became a supreme court justice on the 10th Judicial District. From 2003 to 2004, he served on the appellate term for the 2nd and 10th Judicial Districts.[1]

2012 election

Skelos ran for a seat on the 10th District Supreme Court. He was one of twelve candidates running for six seats in the general election on November 6, 2012. He ran on the Republican and Conservative party tickets, receiving 6.9 percent of the vote as a Republican.[4][5]
