Peter Dearing
Peter L. Dearing was an administrative judge for the Probate Division of the Fourth Circuit Court in Florida. He was appointed to this position by Gov. Bob Martinez in 1988. His term expired in January 2019.[1][2][3][4]
Biography and Education
Dearing was born in Jacksonville, FL on August 26, 1946. He received his B.A. degree in political science from The University of the South (Sewanee) in 1968 and his J.D. degree from University of Florida Law School in 1970. He later earned a certificate in Theology from the Sewanee School of Theology.[1][2]
Career
Dearing began his career in 1970 as a law clerk for Judge Gerald Tjoflat. The following year, he became an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida. He worked in that position until 1975, when he became a trial attorney with the law firm of Mahoney, Hadlow, Chambers & Adams, P.A. He worked there until 1988, minus a one-year sabbatical in 1984 when he moved to England as a missionary. He was appointed to the circuit court in 1988.[1][2]
Elections
2012
Dearing was unopposed and automatically re-elected following the primary election on August 14, 2012.[5][6]
