Hunt ran in the 2012 election for Vermont State Senate Chittenden District. He ran against incumbent Timothy Ashe, incumbent Philip Baruth, incumbent Sally Fox, incumbent Virginia Lyons, Ed Adrian, Debbie Ingram, Loyal Ploof, and David Zuckerman in the Democratic primary on August 28, 2012. He was one of the three who did not receive enough votes to advance to the general election on November 6, 2012.[1]
