Peter Joseph Hamilton
Peter Joseph Hamilton was an Article I federal judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico. He joined the court in 1913 after being nominated by President Woodrow Wilson. He served two four-year terms in the district, leaving the post in 1921.[1]
Early life and education
Hamilton studied at Princeton University before being awarded a graduate fellowship to study mental science at the University of Leipzig in Germany. He went on to study law at the University of Virginia and later earned a degree at the University of Alabama.[1]
Personal life
Hamilton married Rachel Wheeler Burgett with whom he had one son, Peter, who passed away at 18 months and two daughters, Charlotta and Rachel Duke.[1]

Judicial career
District of Puerto Rico
Hamilton was nominated to the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico by Woodrow Wilson in 1913 to a seat vacated by Paul Charlton. He served two four-year terms in the district, leaving the post in 1921. He was succeeded to his post by Arthur Fuller Odlin.[1]
