Peter Krauser
Peter B. Krauser was the chief judge (at-large) for the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, the intermediate appellate court for the state of Maryland. He was appointed to the court by Democratic Governor Parris N. Glendening and assumed office on January 31, 2000. Krauser was retained to the court in November 2000 and again in 2010.[1][2] He was appointed chief judge of the court by Democratic Governor Martin O'Malley on December 7, 2007, and was sworn into the office on December 17, 2007.[3][4][5]
Krauser's last term would have expired in 2020, but he retired from the court when he turned 70 on May 5, 2017. This is Maryland's mandatory retirement age.[6]
Education
Krauser received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University in 1969 and his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law in 1972.[3]
Career
Krauser began his legal career as a law clerk to Judge John P. Fullam of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He served as an appellate attorney for the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. He also previously worked for the Defender Association of Philadelphia and for multiple law firms.[3]

Krauser was retained to the Maryland Court of Special Appeals on November 2, 2010, with 83.84 percent of voters in favor.[2]
