Peter Lewis (Federal magistrate)
Peter Lewis was a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.[1] He was appointed to this position on June 28, 2004.[2] Lewis retired on June 27, 2018.[3]
Early life and education
Judge Lewis received his B.A. from the U.S. International University in 1973. He later earned his J.D. from the California Western School of Law in 1978.[2]
Career
Judge Lewis began his career in Tokyo, Japan, at the firm of Shigeru Ebihara from 1978 to 1981. In 1982, he returned to the United States to become a deputy district attorney in Imperial County until 1989. After that, he became an assistant U.S. attorney for San Diego and Imperial Valley between 1989 and 2004.[2]
