Peter M. Kramer
Peter Kramer was a 2014 Republican candidate for District 29 of the Delaware House of Representatives.
Campaign themes
2014
Kramer's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]
Reduce Government Waste
- Excerpt: "The State’s prevailing wage is out of control and driving up the cost of our construction. An 18 year old with no experience, working on a State funded project in Kent County, makes close to forty dollars an hour. Reducing this wage rate will have a positive, economic domino effect on our entire state economy. The answer to better maintained roads is not a gas tax; it’s enforcing a state wage rate that is fair and makes sense."
No New Taxes
- Excerpt: "We all need to recognize that whenever the government tells us a new tax is temporary, even when they attach sunsets, that the taxes almost always become permanent. The gross receipts tax was a temporary tax. The farm killing estate tax was a temporary tax. They are permanent now. If we allow the water and gas taxes to pass… even after our roads and water have been improved... government bureaucrats, like Trey Paradee, will simply find another way to burn it. Once tax dollars come into Legislative Hall… they are fair game. We need to reallocate the money coming in to fix our serious problems; not tax our way to prosperity."
Support our Police & Fire Departments
- Excerpt: "I think the government is involved in far too much, but police and fire departments are absolutely essential to protecting our well being. Police departments need be given the resources and manpower they need to protect us against violent criminals. Volunteer firefighters are some of the most unsung heroes in our state, and they are some of our most important first responders. They deserve our full financial support; our lives depend on it."
I Will Not Be Beholden to Republican or Democrat Bosses
- Excerpt: "I want to serve the citizens of the 29th District and Delaware; not the Republican Party. If I don’t agree with the direction of my party, I’ll firmly stand against them and with the constituents that gave me the honor to serve. I won’t check political weather reports before votes, but I will let my conscience and my constituents be my guide. I WORK FOR YOU!"
I’ll Support Equality
- Excerpt: "Every citizen in Delaware, and the 29th, needs to be treated the same… even when they are in the minority. No one person's rights should be put ahead of someone else's. All Delawareans; Men, Women, Black, White, Hispanic, Catholic, Jewish, Mormon, need to be treated the same by the government. We're all in this together. No one person or group should be put ahead of another based on the size of their lobbying power."
