Peter M. Reyes Jr. is a judge for District 16 of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. He assumed office in 2014. His current term ends on January 2, 2029.
Reyes ran for re-election for the District 16 judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Democratic Governor Mark Dayton appointed Reyes to this position to fill one of the at-large seats vacated on April 1, 2014, by retiring judges Terri Stoneburner and Thomas Kalitowski. Reyes is the first Latino to sit on an appellate court in Minnesota.[1][2]
Education
Reyes received his J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law in 1997.[1]
Career
Reyes previously was a partner at Barnes and Thornburg, focusing on intellectual property. Before that, Reyes was a senior intellectual property lawyer at food processing company Cargill. Prior to his time at Cargill, Reyes was an associate at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi.[1]
