Peter Maassen appointed to Alaska Supreme Court

Alaska: Yesterday, Governor Sean Parnell announced the appointment of Peter J. Maassen to the Alaska Supreme Court. Maassen was one of two names forwarded by the Alaska Judicial Council to fill the vacancy left by Judge Morgan Christen. Christen was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit in 2011.[1]
Justice Maassen has spent the majority of his legal career in private practice. He was most recently a partner with the firm Ingladson, Maassen and Fitzgerald, P.C.. In the press release announcing the appointment, Governor Parnell said:
“ | Peter’s thoughtful, humble, and articulate manner will be an asset to the Supreme Court and the Alaskans it serves. He has strong legal writing skills, intelligence, and a background that includes operating a small business.[1][2] | ” |
