Peter Swann
Peter Swann was a judge for Division One of the Arizona Court of Appeals. He assumed office on September 23, 2008. He left office on November 28, 2022.
Swann ran for re-election for the Division One judge of the Arizona Court of Appeals. He won in the retention election on November 6, 2018.
Swann was appointed to the court by Democratic Governor Janet Napolitano on September 23, 2008.[1] Swann was retained in 2012 for a six-year term.[2][3]
Education
Swann received his B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley in 1987 and his J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1991.[4]
Career
Swann began his legal career clerking for Senior Judge Norman P. Ramsey, U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. In 1992, he joined the law firm of Steptoe & Johnson LLP in Phoenix, Arizona, as an associate. Swann was made a partner in 2001. In 2003, he received his first judicial appointment to the Maricopa County Superior Court. Swann served as associate civil presiding judge on the Maricopa County Superior Court until his 2008 appointment to the Arizona Court of Appeals.[4][5]
