Two seats on the Pflugerville Independent School District board were scheduled to be up for general election on May 10, 2014 for Places 6 and 7. Since Place 6 incumbent Jimmy Don Havins did not file for re-election, candidate Larry Bradley was unopposed and elected by default. Place 7 incumbent Rob Reyes was also unopposed and re-elected by default.[1]
Voters also approved a $287 million bond, which addressed district growth, safety and security and campus parity across the district.[2]
About the district
Pflugerville Independent School District is located in Travis County, Texas and Williamson County, Texas. The county seat of Travis County is Austin. The county's population was 1,024,266 according to the 2010 U.S. Census.[3]
Voter and candidate information
The Pflugerville Board of Trustees consists of seven members. While members are elected to specific places on the ballot, they serve at large. They serve three-year terms. There was no primary election and the scheduled general election for May 10, 2014 was canceled because both candidates were running unopposed. Two seats were on the ballot in May 2015.[4]
A member of the board must be 18 years old, a U.S. citizen and a resident of the district. An individual seeking office must be a resident of the state for 12 months and a resident of the district for six months, prior to the last date on which the candidate could file to be listed on the ballot.[5]
Elections
2014
The district canceled the board member election since they had only two candidates who ran unopposed. Incumbent Rob Reyes and former Pflugerville principal Larry Bradley won the seats by default.
