Candidate Connection

Phil High is a local leader in the Marion business community as the owner of downtown renowned custom jewelry store, Philip's Diamond Shop, for more than 44 years. Phil has invested in area growth by developing The Philip's Center, a three-story building on 7th Avenue in 2014 - the largest commercial economic development project in downtown Marion in more than 100 years. He is a member of Christ Community Church United Methodist, supporting his wife who is the Senior Pastor.

Phil has always made serving his community a priority. He served as a paid-on-call Firefighter and Paramedic with the Marion Fire Department, retiring in October 2019 after 38 years. Phil worked as a Flight Paramedic with St. Luke's Hospital LifeGuard helicopter air ambulance. He is known as an expert in vehicle and machinery rescue, and has traveled the world training fire rescue services on modern extrication tools and techniques. He was the Lead Instructor in Vehicle Rescue for the Iowa Fire Service Training Bureau.

He has also served as a Board Member and Past President with the Marion Chamber of Commerce, the Experimental Aircraft Association Vice Chairman of Photography, and a member of the Marion Airport Advisory Committee.
