Career
Haines was a former private practice lawyer. He began working for Burlington County in 1999, where he served as a county clerk and freeholder until 2007. That year, he became a state Senator. He represented the 8th District until his joining the court in 2010. In late 2009, he was nominated to the Superior Court by Gov. Corzine, but he turned down the opportunity because he said he didn't think an outgoing governor should make appointments.[1][3]
