Biography
Degnan earned his juris doctor from Seton Hall University and was admitted to the state bar in 1986. He clerked for justices in both the New Jersey Superior Court and New Jersey Supreme Court. He then worked as a civil litigator and criminal defense attorney at Gibbons law firm in Newark, New Jersey. From 2004 to 2011, he was the assistant U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey. He then served for four years as the executive director of the State Commission of Investigation, a position he held at the time of his appointment to the office of state comptroller in October 2015.[2]
