In information submitted to Ballotpedia, Martin stated, "I am a centrist and a moderate. I would work to restore Kansas public school funding and to strengthen our economy by developing an educated and well trained workforce. I will push for a fair tax code with less reliance on local property tax and more on sales taxes and especially work so that income taxes paid by all Kansans, including the ultra-rich be structured so that middle class taxpayers do not have to bear an unfair rate of taxation in favor of any other classification of taxpayers. I believe this would put our economy on a road map to prosperity instead of the current administration's plans. To accomplish some of these things, both political parties in the legislature and the executive branch must reach out to each other and begin a dialogue of respect and civility in campaigns and in discussions. Finally, I would work to make permanent changes in the way political redistricting is done in Kansas, by creating a nonpartisan set of rules to choose district boundaries. This year a Federal panel of judges did what the Legislature could not do, they divided Kansas into districts based on population and communities of interest and met a deadline in doing so."[1]
