Philip McNulty

Philip James McNulty is a judge on the 1st District Court in Colorado, serving Jefferson and Gilpin counties. He was initially appointed to the court in 2008 by Gov. Bill Ritter (D). In 2010, he won retention to a full six-year term on the bench. He was appointed chief judge of the court on November 17, 2014, replacing Chief Judge Stephen Munsinger. McNulty won retention again in the general election on November 8, 2016.[1][2][3][4]
Prior to his service on the district court, McNulty was a municipal judge for the Lakewood Municipal Court (1996–2008).
Biography
McNulty received his undergraduate degree from Colorado State University in 1981 and his J.D. degree from the University of Denver Law School in 1984. He first worked as an associate attorney at the firm of Silver and Hays from 1984 to 1985. He then spent three years as a deputy city attorney for Lakewood, Colo. From 1988 until his appointment to the Lakewood Municipal Court, he was a deputy district attorney for the Colorado 1st Judicial District.[2]

Colorado held judicial retention elections in 2016. Fifty-eight district court judges sought retention to six-year terms in the general election on November 8, 2016.

McNulty was retained to the 1st Judicial District with 65.01 percent of the vote in 2010.[5]
