Campaign themes

2015

Philippe Nassif's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[2]

Transportation and Infrastructure

  • Excerpt: "We’re facing our current traffic crisis in part because Houston’s leadership has failed to provide and expand widespread, viable transportation alternatives across the city. The recent development of bike shares and bike lanes, and the previous expansion of the Metro rail are a sign of great progress, but there’s still work to be done."

Fiscal Responsibility and Accountability

  • Excerpt: "The recent exposure of severe conflicts of interest at City Hall in regards to the awarding of city contracts in the midst of our budget crisis is unacceptable. Council members owe their constituents transparency in all aspects of city government."

Quality of Life

  • Excerpt: "Income inequality is growing at an unacceptable rate and has Houston ranked among the highest in the nation. Police and community relations are at an all time low. In office I will ensure Houston works for all Houstonians."

Business Initiatives

  • Excerpt: "The city needs to foster an environment where enterprise can thrive, support for small businesses is strong, social entrepreneurship is encouraged, and where elected officials serve as ambassadors to the nation and the world in order to bring new business to Houston."

Innovation & Technology

  • Excerpt: "We are at the forefront of technological advancement and it is time we push our city further than before by welcoming startups, expanding digital infrastructure, and incorporating open data in governance."

Serving our Veterans

  • Excerpt: "Houston is home to one of the largest population of veterans in the US. They served our country, and now it is our time to serve them by making sure they have access to jobs and support from our city government."

Giving Young Professionals a Voice

  • Excerpt: "Young Professionals and rising entrepreneurs deserve an advocate who shares their vision for the future. Houston is the fourth largest city in the U.S., and it’s time we start acting like it! This city needs a leader with an open mind and a fresh perspective to represent this thriving community."
