Four of the nine seats on the Cleveland County Schools school board in North Carolina were up for at-large general election on November 7, 2017. Board members Phillip Glover (D) and Danny Blanton (R) won the general election and they were joined in their victory by newcomers Coleman Hunt (D) and Dena Greene (D). A Democratic primary election was held on September 12, 2017.
Glover won the Democratic primary election and was joined in his victory by Tommy Greene, Green, and Hunt. They moved on to the general by defeating Barbara Romich and Guy Suttle. The primary winners faced Blanton and Republican newcomers Rodney Fitch, Kevin Whisnant, former candidate Robert Queen, and incumbent Kathy Falls, who ran with the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).[1]

Glover ran for an at-large seat on the school board on November 5, 2013 against Kathy Falls, S. Dale Oliver, George Litton, Darius Griffin, Donnie Thurman, Jr., Jeff Gregory, Kenneth Ledford, and Danny Blanton.[2]
