Montana: Judge Gayle Stahl resigned from her position as Phillips County justice of the peace in June of 2010. She has served on the 17th District Court of Limited Jurisdiction as a justice of the peaceand a Malta Municipal Court judge for 30 years.

A complaint that she had come into work under the influence of alcohol was filed in March of 2009. She said that the supposed drunken incident was due to pain medication and did not influence her decision. Regarding her reason for resignation, Judge Stahl said, “I just got tired of it and quit.”

Gary Taylor was appointed to temporarily fill the positions until a new judge is chosen by voters in November.[1]
