The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 11, 2014. Chad Caldwell defeated Mike Stuber in the Republican primary, while Pierce Jones was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Caldwell defeated Jones in the general election.[5][6][7]
