Biography

Pierina Sanchez was born in New York, New York. She earned a bachelor's degree from Harvard University in 2010 and a graduate degree from Princeton University in 2014.^[1]

Born and raised in the Bronx by a resilient Dominican family, Pierina grew up watching the hard work of her elders - selling oranges, driving taxis, cleaning buildings and schools - to ensure her generation had a chance at higher education and opportunity. From the Bronx, to Harvard, Princeton, the Obama White House, City Hall and back - Pierina is a fighter for immigrant families, racial justice, affordable housing, good jobs and high quality education.

Every one of us deserves to a live in a stable and healthy home.
Economic opportunity should be universal.
Every child deserves access to a high quality public education.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Housing insecurity is one of the most pervasive and disruptive issues affecting my neighbors. I am passionate about ensuring that more and more neighbors feel safe and stable in their homes, without threat of displacement. This includes building more affordable homes, and importantly, boosting economic opportunities and ensuring our public education systems are preparing our young people for the economy of today.
