Born and raised in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, Pierre Albert is a young emerging Political/Community Leader within NYS. Pierre is driven by a desire for social justice and civic engagement. Pierre’s ideals on social justice come from his humble upbringings. He is the son of a single mother who migrated from Haiti in the early 1990’s and raised two kids on her own. Pierre is married to the love of his life Dr. Ranae Hedman, M.D.

Pierre Albert has worked in State Government in the 20th Senatorial District during Mayor Eric L. Adams tenure in the State Senate. He served as the Community Relations Director in the 43rd Assembly District under former Assemblyman Karim Camara. He continues to serve in State Government as a Program Manager for the Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery for the Housing Recovery Program that spearheads the state efforts to assist storm affected homeowners, public housing, co-ops, and multi-family rental properties.

Pierre serves as the Young Adults Ministry Coordinator at New Life Tabernacle in Brooklyn, and has been on the Board of Light the World Foundation 501 (C)(3) helping to oversee their mentorship program and scholarship program for students in the U.S. and Haiti. Pierre leads a Tenant Association in his building and has hosted awareness forums/workshops for the Brooklyn community on topics ranging from immigration to mental health to police reform.
  • Housing is a basic Human Right. There is a need for more low income and middle income housing.
  • Gun Violence Prevention must be a top initiative. We must invest in After School Youth Programs, Mentorship Programs and recreational centers that create a safe family environment.
  • Closing the Academic Achievement Gap is a must. If we teach and train then we can close the socio-economic gap and provide more opportunities, better pay and real assets for everyone not just the few.
Closing the Academic Achievement Gap

Teaching job-related technical skills as early as Middle School and High School.

Supporting the inclusion of High School curriculum into the Middle School classrooms.

Supporting Early College Classes in High School.

Affordable Housing (Low Income & Middle Income Housing)
Work with Non-Profit Developers & Community Based organizations to increase Affordable Housing units.

Partner with the City and Federal Government to invest in and prioritize the New York City Housing Authority.

Build Supportive Housing for the vulnerable and provide support for Housing Voucher Programs for the Homeless.

Invest in our rental assistance programs including ERAP, Excluded Workers Fund, LRAP.

Gun Violence Prevention
Investing in After School Youth Programs, Mentorship Programs and recreational centers that create a safe family environment.

Promoting and supporting anti-gun violence groups and organizations that teach conflict resolution and engage in Crisis Management.

Collaborating with Law Enforcement in our community that provide support and intervention services and increase the penalty for gun traffickers.

HealthCare is a Basic Human Right
Comprehensive HealthCare that includes primary care, reproductive health, specialists, vision, dental etc.

Elimination of co-payments, prescription fees, examination fees and other medical related expenses.

Ensure hospitals receive an increase in funding from the State.
I look up to President Barack Obama. I would like to follow his example because he led with grace, great strength, wisdom and upheld democratic ideals. His Presidency was centered on empowerment and closing the wealth gap.
To be an advocate for the issues that are most concerning to residents in their district and for all New Yorkers. This work of advocacy entails passing meaningful legislation to improve quality of life, overseeing agency practice and protocols to ensure proper implementation of the will of the State Legislature and creating spaces for community members to be heard including town halls and open office hours.
Together we can address the wealth gap in our community. We can close the socio-economic gap and provide more opportunities. We can increase wages, empower our students to enter science, technology and math fields. We can provide access to health care for all and increase homeownership.
My very first job was being a Driver and Special Assistant to then State Senator Eric L. Adams who is now the Mayor of New York City. I held the position during the end of his tenure in the State Senate and during his transition to Borough Hall.
President Barack Obama "A Promised Land". It inspired me to run for office and to advocate for changes to our country's institutions.
The State Legislature should have a close working relationship with the Governor and lead the charge as it relates to policy and budget priorities. The Legislature should serve as a check on the Governor. There should always be a balance of power in State Government. This means holding hearings that brings issues to the forefront, overseeing agencies and advising the Governor as it relates to state and district projects.
Low Income and Middle Income Housing. There is a challenge of encouraging real estate developers to build more affordable housing units. The problem is further exacerbated by the flawed calculation for what is considered affordable. There is a need to build affordable housing that is not based on the City's AMI set by HUD but to build affordable housing according to the AMI of the zip code or community.
I favor a process that has an independent redistricting commission. A commission compromised of retired government officials and professionals in academic universities. This ensures that we have a balance of government experience as it relates to the best way to carve out the districts to meet the needs of the community and professionals in the academic arena that bring their knowledge and studies of the many diverse cultures, languages and backgrounds in NYS.
